The Sa Calobra Descent

Awesome scenery with fantastic views in Mallorca. The road has 26 hair pins – 7% average gradient , is 10km long, drops 670m to the ocean from the mountain top and is just simply stunning. I will definitely be going back …. Fantastic.

Cycling in a virtual world

Running continuously (even through the summer months), I’m now running a small virtual group ride round the island of Watopia, for myself and several of my cycling buddies in my Meetup cycling group.  Eh- What?      Seriously…now that the dark hours and crap weather are upon us, we can apply Velominati Rule No. 5 and get out…

Lance Armstrong Special – Part Four

Get on yer bike – the art of using rollers indoors…..

You’ve seen the pro’s use them ….you’ve flirted with turbo trainers, and experienced the boredom of lots of cycling effort and no reward in terms of scenery and being outdoors. Now you’re tempted to try out rollers. Go on – go on – go on – you know you want to…… The outdoors isn’t too…

Top of the world (near Bathgate)

I joined some friends from the Lothian Cyclists  (http://www.meetup.com/Lothian-Cyclists/) for a wee wander on Sunday ….venturing into some unfamiliar territory. Wandering around the west country……near Bathgate!! Tel you what though …some fantastic hills and (on a good day) some fantastic views!! Well worth it.

For the want of a spoke…..

More Tour de France fallout….

Two more pro-cyclists have dropped out of the Tour de France today before Stage 17  Saint-Gaudens > Saint-Lary Pla d’Adet (124,5 km) got underway. Can’t say I blame them – whilst this stage is the shortest at 124.5 km, its one of the toughest – with absolutely brutal climbs. 168 men are left in the…

Now it’s Fabian Cancellera out of the Tour de France – what’s going on?

A note from “The Guardian” excellent article on this subject :- “Unlike previous winners Chris Froome, Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck and 25-time stage winner Mark Cavendish – all of whom crashed out – Cancellara chose to abandon the race prior to the Alps and Pyrenees in order to prepare for September’s Road World Championships in Spain. Cancellara said in a…
